Today I completed Day 5 of the Insanity program. Oh boy, I was sweating all over the place. Today’s workout was Pure Cardio. It definitely was a lot of cardio. There were times where I did have to take a wee break to drink some water and to catch my breath a little. Anyway, I still pushed myself through some of the harder exercises even when I thought I couldn’t go any longer. Those pushup jacks at the end were killer! I also did the entire workout on X-box One’s fitness app. I beat the score for women in my age range! Woo!

Insanity Day 4
Well, today was day 4 of the Beachbody program Insanity. The workout for today was Cardio Recovery. Now, don’t let that name fool you! It’s been so long since I have done it and I had forgotten that it still actually makes you sweat. I needed a good stretch today and it definitely delivered that. My inner thighs, calves, and shoulders are sore. I love that feeling because I know that this program is working! I hope it gets me over the plateau that I have hit. I think once I finally start this new job in about two weeks I may invest in Shakeology again. It definitely made my nails and hair healthier. It was quite tasty too! We will see what happens int he future. 🙂 Looking forward to tomorrow’s workout!
Layered Salad
Over the weekend my mother-in-law and I watched the Pioneer Woman on the Food Network. She made an awesome looking layered salad and we immediately knew we wanted to try it. Today, we made it. Now, it may have at least one unhealthy layer in it, the rest is simply amazing. You don’t necessarily have to put this layer in or use the salad dressing in the recipe either. We just decided we wanted to try the full effect.
Anyway, here’s the recipe:
Ingredients:
For the Salad:
- 2 heads Iceberg Lettuce, Chopped
- 8 ounces, fluid Baby Spinach, Washed And Dried
- 8 whole Hard Boiled Eggs, Chopped
- Salt And Pepper, to taste
- 16 ounces, weight Bacon, Cooked And Chopped (You could perhaps use turkey bacon or no bacon at all!)
- 4 whole Tomatoes, Chopped
- 1 bunch Green Onions, Thinly Sliced
- 8 ounces, weight Cheddar Cheese, Grated (You could use low-fat cheese or low-moisture as well)
- 1 bag (10 Ounce) Frozen Peas, Partially Thawed
- FOR THE DRESSING:
- 1/2 cup (Real) Mayonnaise (We didn’t use real mayonnaise. We used the mayo that has olive oil in it)
- 1/2 cup Sour Cream
- 1 Tablespoon Sugar (more To Taste)
- Fresh Dill, Chopped
Directions:
You just make layers of the ingredients in order listed above, or even make your own order if you’d prefer. The last layer should be the dressing. Next, refrigerate it for at least eight hours. You don’t have to cover it either because the dressing will seal all the freshness in.
Insanity Day 3
Well, today I woke up feeling ever-so-sluggish, but after I ate a little bit of breakfast I got enough energy to start day 3 of Insanity. It was definitely a bit harder than the workout yesterday. I sweat a lot and did take a few breaks here and there (again, with a pushup move!), but that’s okay! I also felt like throwing up during the beginning. I guess I was really pushing myself. I also used my X-box One’s fitness app to do today’s workout. Luckily, the app has a few of Insanity’s workouts on there. Today I did Power Cardio and Resistance. I like using the fitness app on the X-box One because challenges pop up from time to time and you try and beat other women’s scores that are in your age range. I did beat a few of the challenges, but some I did not. I am sure with time and completing more and more of these workouts I will be able to beat all of the challenges one day! Super stoked to do that.
Working on a New Me
Insanity Day 2
Insanity Day 1
Okay. New day. Picking up where I left off in my fitness journey. Not necessarily starting over, but getting over a bump in the road. I am really determined to finish the Insanity program this time. The first time I tried I ended up stopping because of some mysterious pain in my lower abdomen. Anyway, took measurements and my weight today. Need to do before pictures. I did the Fit Test of Insanity.
Here are my stats for day one’s Fit Test:
Switch Kicks – 80
Power Jacks – 43
Power Knees – 85
Power Jumps – 25
Globe Jumps – 8
Suicide Jumps – 10
Pushup Jacks – 14
Low Plank Obliques – 50
Can’t wait to see how much more I can do later. I am sticking to this!
NO More EXCUSES!
Okay… the past couple months I have just made a ton of excuses when it came to me working out and eating right. I would do good for a little while, then stumble again. I would workout most days though, but then I would eat like crap and basically cancel out what I was trying to do.
So, now… I am determined more than ever to get my fitness and eating habits under control. I am determined to start and finish the Insanity program. I actually started it yesterday and started eating better as well. I really need to keep posting here, Instagram, and maybe Facebook. I feel that doing that helps me hold myself accountable.
No more excuses. I am STICKING to this. I did get a new job that starts next month, but I won’t let that stop me either.
